Don't Look There

[Problem Solving - IV]

Don’t look there again.
Not there, either.

Your wallet is not in the sock drawer.
Your baseball cap is not on the coat hook.
That’s where they would be if they weren’t missing. But you have a problem: the are missing. So, why look there again, and again, and again?

Why do we look for solutions in the places we’d look if we didn’t need to solve a problem? And why are we surprised when our looking returns void every time?

Another way to say the same thing: solutions aren’t in the obvious places, nor will they appear as expected (even if they happen to be in the obvious places).

Either look elsewhere or look with new eyes. Or both.
Both are scary.
Both will warrant criticism.
Both are the only chance we have.
