Problem Solvers Listen
[Who We Need - III]
True problem solvers are not like fullbacks; they don’t see an issue and run it over.
Problem solvers first listen—deeply, patiently, without force—because the seeds of the solution are always hunkered down somewhere in the problem itself.
We need problem solvers not because we have big problems that require big solutions in a hurry but because we need people that do the hard work of slowing down and understanding while everyone around them screams, “Hurry up!"
Slow is not a virtue.
Intentionally inefficient isn’t either.
But listening is. So is understanding. (And those are slower and more intentional.)
We need problem solvers that listen and truly understand.
