Germination Rate
[Farm Thoughts - I]
The precision seeder I recently purchased is not cheap. Though a simple design, the engineering is primo, the materials are the highest quality (stainless steel with an Alder handle), and it garners excellent reviews by people that grow a lot more food than I do.
It accomplishes exactly what it promises: precision seeding.
But not every seed germinates.
Precision is important; predictability is too. The difference is that the latter is often out of our control.
I always have to sow more seeds than I need to grow to get the quantity of salad greens I want to eat.
Don’t let unpredictable outcomes dissuade you from investing in your thing.
Invest more! More time. More attempts. More often.
Some will germinate, but there’s no way of knowing which ones.
