Fire is Never About Fire

Fire* is always about something else.

An outdoor cook stove (or fire pit or Imu) is never about flames or coals; instead, it is about the food and the sharing and the celebration.

A campfire is less about the burning sticks and more about facilitating late night conversations (and s'mores!).

Religiously speaking, fire has never been about the fire, but instead about the ritual, the offering, and the worship.

Mythologically, fire is not just fire; rather, it’s a treasured gift from the gods—a sign of power and possibility.

Fire is never about the flame or the fuel or the pit. Fire is always about something bigger.

What’s the fire that burns in you? Does it point beyond your day-to-day obligations? Does it point you to something bigger?

People like us have a fire we must attend to.
