Last week's roundup.
Monday: In-N-Out’s secret sauce is good, but anyone can spend an hour in the kitchen and figure it out. What makes their burger joint brilliant is not the secret sauce—it’s good, don’t get me wrong—it’s that they don’t have two or three or 10 secret sauces. They have one. And they nail it every time. Over and over again.
Tuesday: It’s no wonder creativity is scary. It takes courage.
Wednesday: Instead, you should do different. As in, do something that’s sure to get overlooked today. Do something that doesn’t get much air time today. Do something that’s not the rage right now.
Thursday: How and what we communicate to the world is part of the future we are creating. You only have so much of someone’s attention; every message matters.
Friday: Incremental change, however, is unhelpful when it’s really risk aversion masquerading as a change strategy.
Saturday: The only way an organization, a faith community, or a business can undergo a successful renewal is to avoid the temptation to hire the next workhorse or the next strategist. Instead, be more like a museum or an art gallery: hire a curator.
