The Bee at the Table

[Short Allegories – IV]

One person sees a bee land near their plate at the picnic table and thinks nothing of it.

Another person sees a bee, casually scares it away, and then resumes eating.

A third person jumps up from the table, knocks down their glass of water, bumps the person next to them, and sprints across the lawn to the shade of a nearby tree.

Three different responses to a honeybee—two are acceptable and the third is over-dramatic and inappropriate.

Until we learn the third person is deathly ill to bee stings and recently lost a family member to anaphylactic shock, the response doesn't make sense.

There’s always a backstory. Always. (And there’e a very high chance you don’t know the whole of it.)

Suspend judgment. Inquire. Listen.
