Scratch It!
[Notes to Self – III]
If it itches, scratch it. It’s that simple.
If you chase hard after a solution to a problem you have, you will do good work. You have to. Or, you’re simply dissatisfied. The incentive is built in.
If you need a particular kind of community. Build it. Organize it. Dream it. Do it.
If you need a programming hangup smoothed out. Write it. Build it. Solve it.
If you need a more efficient X. Make it. Create it. Live and breathe it until there’s a breakthrough.
It doesn’t matter what sector, field, or industry . . . if it itches, you have the most critical asset to succeeding: Personal need.
And then, most importantly, in the processing of solving that problem, you’ll hopefully fall in love with the work. Not the solution, but the ongoing problem-solving process. More itches will come up, and they will need scratching, too.*
