Discover Solutions

[Problem Solving - II]

The phrase, “discover solutions”, is misleading, if by “discover” we mean “stumble upon”.

Most solutions aren’t stumbled upon. (The stories we tell about stumbling on solutions are often sensationalized. Usually the person—or team—that stumbles on a solution has been laboring for years and then is surprised. That’s different.)

Solutions are not the 90% sale rack that we stumble upon while moseying through the store trying to kill time (or do retail therapy).

Solutions are labored over, discussed, re-framed, wrangled with, meditated upon, tried and tried again, researched, hatched and scratched, brainstormed, prayed over, and invested in.

Solutions are work.

But they are not discovered.

(By the way, a 90% sale rack is not a solution to anything. Well, except for the retailer that needs to offload unwanted product.)
