The Enemy (Voice) Continues
I love early mornings. They're quiet, calm. Even the animals on the farm are still asleep.
The enemy voice is awake, however. It’s always awake. It sets its alarm for the exact same time I set my alarm. It stands at the gas range and waits for the water to boil while I stand at the range and wait. It follows me like my shadow, except that it’s closer than a shadow, and it doesn’t need light to cast darkness on my purpose and goals.
The enemy voice is in my head.
Last week I created a “scouting report” on the enemy voice. I captured it’s harmful tactics for six days. I think it’s a good sampling of how the enemy voice lies.
And then yesterday morning something happened. The enemy voice tried a new tactic. It disrupted my peace with another dirty lie. One that is equally as nasty and sinister as the others. Maybe more so.
It said, “You’re a fraud.” I immediately tried to justify myself. For an hour! The next thing I know I hear the animals wake. Then the kids. My precious morning is gone.
Now that I’m paying close attention, I realized the enemy voice has more tactics than I first thought.
I’ll keep adding to my scouting report.
(I hope these are helpful. I’d love to know if you’ve heard the enemy voice say similar things to you.)
