Partners
We have lunch buddies and office friends.
We’re part of a running club or open-gym basketball team.
We have sports-watching or movie-watching comrades.
We’re in a small group through church or book group at the library.
These people offer solidarity, accountability, inspiration. They offer community. As much as we like to think of ourselves as lone cowboys (thank you, John Wayne), we all see someone needing support when we look in the mirror. We’re hardwired to be better with the support of others.
What about our creativity, our imaginative capacities, our innovative impulse?
What about our art or our dream project?
We need partners for those, too.*
People like us need each other.
Let’s find a partner.
*I’ve always liked the image of "being sent two by two” for this reason. Ex: Luke 10:1
