Incarnation

In-carnate.To be in a body, or to embody materiality. Incarnation is the word that Christians have used for two thousand years to mark what happened at the birth of Jesus. Why? Because God took on a human body. But that was not the first incarnation, not by the fuller definition of the word.Whether you’re a young-earther, old-earther, by-the-book creationist, or evolutionist, it doesn’t matter. God began the process of self-revelation through matter (in that first of 7 days or that first bang in 14 billion years). In the beginning, you might say, God began “incarnating”.The world is God’s first self-revelation.Whatever it is you create today, tomorrow, next year, is a material expression of who you are. You don’t need to create your own product to sell on Etsy for this to be true. We are all creating tomorrow, in our own way, today. Even that deal, that hand shake, that conversation, that memo, that decision are expressions of who you are and the world you desire. Be mindful of that. And remember, people like us show up and take risks. “Incarnating” is always risky. What will the world learn about you, your desires, your hopes and beliefs, reflected in your work?
