A Few Lies (and Truths)

Lie: There’s not enough to go around.*Truth: There’s not only enough, but there’s excess!Lie: Wealth is acquiring more than the other person.Truth: Wealth is having enough to thrive, and then sharing with the other person.Lie: Fulfillment correlates with owning newer, better, and more things.Truth: Fulfillment is the presence of people that love you.Lie: Wholeness and wellbeing are merited.Truth: Wholeness and wellbeing are freely given (but often times need to be pointed out to us).How much of what we do is motivated by, or, in some small way, informed by one of those lies?People like us that are unwilling to continue in ways like this, must point out the lies, continue to reaffirm the truth, and bring our generous gifts to the table—despite the lies.*These lies/truths are addressed in the interaction between the father and the older son in The Parable of the Prodigal Son (which is a terrible title, in my opinion, of that ancient story). Luke 15:25-32.
