On Leadership #1

There are numerous definitions of leadership out there.Definitions that highlight the talents of "leader-types".Definitions that highlight the disposition of those naturally drawn to leadership roles.Definitions that highlight leadership as a frame of mind.Definitions that emphasize influencing followers.Definitions that emphasize vision.On and on and on.I think this one, above all others, has captured my imagination:Leadership is the art of empowering others to do the work only they can do.It’s art.It’s empowerment.It’s measured by the success—true, meaningful success—of the other.And it’s fundamentally about giving of ourselves.I'll look at each of these in the coming days.Until then, remember to turn off the voices in your head that say otherwise.Because, you, dear friend, are a leader.
