It Finds You
Have you heard the adage, You always find what you’re looking for?
It’s true.
You always find what supports your thinking and ignore (not always intentionally, but more subtly, even subconsciously) what contradicts what you think. We look for what we want, and what we want is confirmation in what we think. We want corroboration. We want support.
This tilts the scale toward us. It’s our bias. Our search is never objective.
We don’t, however, always find what we need.
What we need finds us, if we let it.
But it doesn’t look like discovery.
It looks like opposition and challenge.
It feels dissonant.
It sounds like disagreement.
Part of showing up is an openness to being found.* Being challenged. Being surprised. Being awakened.
The path to growth is the path full of surprises.
This is the spiritual journey.
Let it find you.
