Weekly Roundup: The Creative Call, Again

June 1 – June 5, 2020

Monday: There is an underlying, creative force that indwells, infuses, and inspires all of life. It beckons us forward. It’s both beyond us and within us. It’s bigger than us and yet somehow carried within us.

Tuesday: Shame diminishes the individual. It isolates and devalues. Creativity builds and supports individuality. Shame causes disconnection and inauthenticity. Creativity promotes connection, generosity, and honesty.

Wednesday: But the creative call is always a call to give ourselves to our given task in such a way that we move inside it in the process of its completion. And when we’re finished, we’ve become part of it.

Thursday: Creativity is invariably communal. It is discerned, birthed, and ultimately lives in and through relationships with others. It’s not individualistic. It can’t be because it always happens in clusters.

Friday: Competition will never satisfy the creative call. Competition is a perversion of it. Someone’s creative production, advancement, or “success” is not a reflection on your creative potential. They are not your competition. They are not your obstacle to winning.
