Sunday Reminder

Each Sunday I'll find an older post pertaining to the current week's theme, polish it up, and re-share it.

Here's today's "Sunday Reminder"

Information
[April 26, 2019]

It used to be that those with the information won—or, at least, they were in control of who won. They controlled what the public saw, read, learned, and ultimately what we all knew.

Information was power.

But now the information is out. Accessible to everyone. Anytime. And usually in their pocket.

The power is not in having it but in what you do with it.

  • No longer does gathering data matter, activating the data does.
  • No longer does having special knowledge or know-how matter, understanding does.
  • No longer does accumulating information matter, influencing others with the information does.
  • No longer does having the answers matter, wisdom does.
  • No longer does collecting the dots matter, connecting them does (thank you, Seth Godin).

People like us must ask of work like ours: Are we merely disseminating data (as if people don’t have access already) or are we offering new understanding, novel insights, meaningful connections, deep wisdom, motivation and inspiration?
