Survival is not the opposite of death.
Creation is.

Creation is bringing something new into existence. Manifesting something new in the world. Nurturing something, fashioning something, building something that didn’t formerly exist. This process is the opposite trajectory of dying and death. It’s the inversion of decay. It’s the antithesis of decomposition.

It’s what we do.

Create art.
Create garden beds.
Create new friendships.
Create, build, grow, cultivate, fashion that one beautiful thing. (It seems the most beautiful things often arise out of the hardest of times.)

It is not you that is responsible for creating a new world. Now is the time to let go of that burden. But that one thing: that one lyric, that one riff, that one, small, charming, graceful thing . . . that’s your part.

In this time, console, love, support, catch up, call, Zoom, or FaceTime someone.

But also create.
And then share it.
