Stand Up
I remember reading one of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s sermons where he said we will all have a chance at some point in our life to stand up for a great principle or issue or cause or vision. If we don’t stand up, when we finally die, it will be the belated announcement of the dying of our inner self, our spirit.
What he's saying: If we don’t stand up, we die inside now. We continue to live physically, of course, but we die spiritually.
Now is the time, friends. But standing up is more than straightening our knees. We must take the time to draw our vision, to articulate our bottom line, to grab hold of our principles, and to name and understand our values. We must do the work.
I can think of 50 other things to do…on Netflix alone.
But it’s an issue of life or death. And people like us, if nothing else, desire to truly live.
