Be Still

To innovate (or solve any problem), we must be able to imagine a different future.

To imagine a different future, we must understand the present.

To understand the present, we must observe what's happening around us.

To observe what’s happening around us, we must look.

To look, we must be still.

Being still—slowing down, stopping, being patient, and taking in the details of place—is the beginning of innovation.

Counterintuitively, being still is the beginning of change.
