Just Below the Surface
A bubble always floats to the surface.
Go to the bottom of a pool, exhale, and there will be no doubt. A bubble goes up. And then what? Then it breaks free. Technically, it gets in a shoving match with the surface tension of the water. And eventually wins out, breaks free, and dissipates into the air.
Unless it’s cold enough outside to freeze. Then the bubble rises and gets stuck just below the surface.
You don’t have to dive way down to find your creativity, your spark, your innovation, your insights. You don’t have to scuba dive for the bubbles of your imagination. They’re right under the surface.
But your environment is cold. Freezing cold.
It might be the policies, the department, the protocol, the tradition, the culture, whatever. It’s ice cold.
The bubble is always rising, floating to the surface, waiting to emerge. Waiting to burst.
Please, don’t confuse the ice for the bubble.
