What is Marketing, Anyways?

Marketing requires four critical things:

    1. Understanding a problem.
    2. Articulating the problem well.
    3. Having a solution and telling those that care.
    4. Delivering on the solution.

If it’s not all four, then it’s advertising (or cheesy journalism). That’s it.People like us that are unwilling to continue with the way things are know this intuitively, which is why advertising makes us bristle.People like us cringe when #1 is fabricated, #2 is poorly done, #3 is a false promise, and #4 is unpredictable.I believe this is true for every sector, every business, every person.Especially those that work for a faith community or in the social sector.
