Broken Window Theory

Have you ever heard of the Broken Window Theory? It goes like this: There’s a positive correlation between broken windows and crime in a community. Communities with whole blocks of buildings with broken windows have levels of crime that are sky high. Theft, violent crime, drugs—you name it.The solution: Increase police presence, and institute tougher regulations (e.g. Stop and Frisk policies).Does it work? Of course not. Crime stays high while enmity builds between law enforcement and residents. And the windows stay broken.Alternative solution (that very few people consider): Replace the windows.Does it work? Yes! Crime drops tremendously.People like us that are unwilling to continue in ways like this…sometimes need to just replace the windows.
